Our Story
Present was created to raise awareness for culture, race, and ethnicity based hate crimes through unbiased story telling while simultaneously shedding light on various cultures. Modern day has witnessed an exponential increase in the number of hate crimes that are solely based on something that are a part of who we are. Our goal is to uncover the facts to promote awareness and prevent future victims. People's voices need to be heard, and Present works to be that medium the people can use.

About the Founder
Present is a student-run publication founded by Jiayue Zou. Zou is a McLean High School sophomore and aspiring journalist. Growing up as an Asian-American, she always had an underlying feeling that she was different, regardless if it was culture or appearance. Only as she grew older and began paying attention to the news, did she realize the impact of being different. That epiphany sparked the motivation to create Present, in hopes to bring about change and inspire others to do the same.
